September 24, 1954 Teacher/Association President Divorced 2
It is so hard to believe that 40 years has passed by! I can still remember sitting in the quad at Montgomery! Well, the past 40 years for me has been school, school, and more school. After Montgomery, I headed straight for SRJC and two and a half years later transferred to Sacramento State. I graduated in 1976 and obtained my teaching credential in 1977. I then headed to Anchorage, Alaska! I taught grades 2, 3, 4, and 5/6 for the Anchorage School District for 8 years. It was a wonderful and wild experience, fishing on the Kenai River, visiting Mile 1 of the Alaskan pipeline, having moose walk around town, and going out to yard duty at -5 below zero! It was an adventure I am glad I took.  I adopted my son, Matthew ( born 2/84) from Kolkata, India. When he was 15 months old, I was divorced and headed back to California. I guess I figured I was going to move anyway, so why not move back to some sunshine. I ended up in Orangevale, where my mom and stepfather had moved. I taught 5th grade in Washington Unified (West Sac) from 85-87, then was hired by Rocklin Unified, where I have been for 25 years. In 1991, I adopted my daughter, Mackenzie (born 11/89), bought my house, started a relationship with another future husband, and continued to teach! After the next marriage didn't work out in 2000, I started on other paths, I went back to Sacramento State for a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy, became National Board Certified in English as a New Language. I also took on some construction projects, such as a 650 sq. ft room addition that took 2 years and a kitchen remodel, that was much faster! I have been working with students, K-6, who are identified at English Learners since 2000. It is the highlight of my 35 years in education. In 2009, I became the teacher's association president.  I am able to create relationships with many teachers as well as many administrators. It is not a "job" that I sought, but I am learning so much attending conferences and meeting with a variety of personalities. In fact, I am following in my dad's footsteps, he was the president of the Santa Rosa Teacher's Association in his day!! Sadly, my dad passed away in August 2007 and my stepfather Dave in 2009. My mom is still going strong and lives 1 mile from us! Matthew and Mackenzie are great kids! Matthew graduated from Sac State in 2010 and works for a local company. Mackenzie is looking into continuing her education in law enforcement. They are still at home, no chance of grandchildren for many years...oh well! I am looking forward to seeing everyone! See you in September!  Send Barbara a MessageSend Barbara a Message

August 13, 1954 Winery Compliance business owner www.complianceservice.com Married 2
After graduating, I married my first husband at 19 years old. Bad decision, enough said. But I got two wonderful daughters from that marriage. Divorced by 24 yrs old. I went to SRJC and got training to be a psychiatric technician and worked at Sonoma Developmental Center for 8 years, working mostly with autistic, assaultive male clients. What a job!

I then learned how to do winery compliance, which is all the permits required in every state to sell your wines, and accompanying paperwork. I n 1995 I started a small business and now have 6 employees in downtown Santa Rosa, Baril Compliance Service.

I met my current husband George D'Angelo in 1996 and we've been married for 12 years. He's a musician and the best friend I've ever had. I have one stepdaughter as well as my 2 daughters from my first marriage and also 3 grandchildren. All our children live within an hour drive, so we feel very lucky.

We also have taken care of my mother in our home for the last 4 years.

I love to travel, camp, to fish for trout, and hike, love mushroom hunting, gardening, and dancing. I think Sonoma County is the best place in the world to live!

June 20, 1954 Controller Married 2
Boy - I can't believe how old we all are!  It seems like only yesterday we were in school together.  I graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Political Science - went to UC San Diego and received my paralegal degree - and came back to Santa Rosa and went to work for my father at Bartley Pump Inc (been there ever since).  (Nothing like putting that college education to good use!) At any rate, I moved back to Santa Rosa - met the love of my life (Jon Dorsey - who works for Calpine at the Geysers) and have been married for 32 years now.  We raised two kids (both went to Santa Rosa High School and then on to UCLA)- Kelly Danielle Dorsey - who is now a doctor and doing her residency in Chicago.  She wants to be a Oncologist.  She is getting married next year in Sonoma County.  Our son, Shane Charles Dorsey, is in San Francisco working as a Client Service Manager for Sequoia Benefits.  He is doing great and loves being in the city. (Thinks Santa Rosa is boring!) At any rate, I can't wait to see all of you at our reunion and here all about the wonderful things in your lives.

Speech Pathologist Married 2
Thank you to those who set up this site as well as the facebook group!
After our graduation, I attended SRJC, CSU Chico, CSU Fresno briefly, and then returned to CSU Chico for grad school.  Met my husband, George,in Hollister, CA.  Married in 1984, moved to Redwood Valley (just north of Ukiah), in 1987. We have two children, ages 25 and 23 and one almost 4 year old grandson.  George is a winemaker/winery manager and I'm a speech pathologist in the public school system.  We love small town living, walking, reading, cooking, traveling, music and dancing. Because the reunion will be during grape harvest, I'm not sure I'll be able to attend, but I'm hopeful!  Best wishes to everyone!

November 29, 1954 Accountant Married
After graduation I managed to complete one semester at SRJC before dropping out to work full time.  I eventually returned to night classes while working in various seasonal or part-time jobs, including a stent as an Instructional Aide at MHS in the business department from 1974-1976.  To supplement that income, I also worked part-time at Park Cinema Theatres where I met my husband in 1974.  We married in 1980 and eventually opened our own business "Mel's Fish & Chips" in Santa Rosa.  Sold it 11 years later because we discovered it owned us and we wanted to spend more quality time together.

I've been employed with the County of Sonoma for 15 years, currently working in the Human Services Department's Adult & Aging Division.  I have been in the accounting field since becoming a County employee.  My husband Jeff took a position as department manager at G&G Market about 10 years ago.  We have no children but fill that niche with loving nieces, nephews, and children of the four-legged variety.
